Hey, Wildcats! 📚 School is way more fun when you’re keeping up with what’s going on. Missing days can make it tough to stay on top of things, so let’s try to keep those absences low! Being there each day helps you stay connected, keep learning, and make every day count! 💪 #ksdstudentsfirst

2024-25 Empowering Parents program grant applications are open. Applications will close when funding is exhausted, so we’re hoping families apply right away! https://empoweringparents.idaho.gov/ As a reminder, parents of Idaho students ages 5-18 who filed a 2023 Idaho tax return are eligible. Families with adjusted gross incomes (AGI) of under 60k receive priority. Grants are $1,000 per student and up to $3,000 per family. The grant funds can be used for a huge range of items to support student learning – including laptops or technology, extracurricular classes, camps, and school athletic fees, driver’s education, tutoring or speech therapy – and more! If you have further questions about this program, please contact Kate Lenz, klenz@edu.idaho.gov

The KMS 8th grade class recently finished the Egg Car project, which requires them applying Newtons 3 Laws of Motion to a car crashing with an egg inside. The class showed amazing creativity with their cars and had great success with having the eggs survive the crashes.

Attendance matters! By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of the three signs that a student may drop out of school. Missing 10 percent, or two days per month, can result in learning loss, missed athletic and social opportunities and disengagement with the school community.

Recently Mrs. Findley's science and art classes participated in the nationwide Rock Your School Day, with a Glow Day! The students started their class with a cup stacking STEM (science, technology, mathematics and engineering) challenge focused on collaboration and engineering. Then they moved onto completing rigorous puzzles reviewing the scientific method. In art, they used highlighters and neon paints to create growth mindset quotes to be read throughout the year. It was a great way to remind everyone learning can be interactive, exciting, and inspirational. We are excited to see what Kellogg Middle School comes up with next to help spark curiosity and continue to engage students in ways that leave lasting impressions!
