Attendance is UP and we are thrilled to be back! 🎒✨
It’s been a minute since our last update, but our students have returned from spring break ready to work.
We know the nice weather is calling, but there is no better place to be than in the classroom.
Let's keep this momentum going all the way to summer! ☀️💜

Understanding Your Taxes: Why the KSD Levy Matters
As we approach the vote on May 19th, it’s important to look at the facts behind the numbers. While property values in our area have risen, the actual amount taxpayers pay to the Kellogg School District has decreased significantly since 2018.

Key Takeaways from the Data:
Lower Rates: The actual levy rate per $100k has dropped from $468 in 2018 to an anticipated $195 for 2026.
Debt Free: The KSD Bond was officially paid off in November 2025, meaning $0 in bond debt for taxpayers moving forward.
Property Tax Relief: Thanks to estimated state relief funds, we anticipate a further reduction in the levy rate to help offset the proposed 2026-2028 funding.

The proposed levy ensures our schools remain operational and maintained while keeping the tax impact manageable for our homeowners.
Please vote May 19th!

Our team spent valuable time learning and growing together as we welcomed Cathy Collier from the Bureau of Education and Research. Staff from Title I, Special Education, and Kindergarten classrooms came together to strengthen their skills in delivering highly targeted reading interventions for our youngest learners in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Investing in our educators means investing in student success and we’re excited to see these strategies in action as we continue supporting every child on their path to becoming a confident reader. 📚

There will be a KSD Board of Trustees workshop to specifically discuss the upcoming supplemental levy election on Monday, March 23rd at 6PM in the Pinehurst Elementary Cafeteria. These workshops are the most meaningful way to engage in the process of educating our community to the importance of supplemental levy funding and we encourage community members to be active participants in this process.

Our attendance numbers dipped a bit this week as several illnesses made their way through some of our schools. We’re wishing a quick recovery to the students, staff, and families who are under the weather — rest up and take care of yourselves. As we head toward the end of third quarter and spring break just a few weeks away, we look forward to welcoming everyone back healthy and ready to finish the quarter strong!
